Nabeshima-yaki Exhibition

In the Edo period, ceramic ware and pottery was used as an offering the the feudal lords or the shogunate.
Nabeshima-yaki is a ceramic ware established by the Nabeshima family in the late 17th century in Kyushu. Nabeshima family established their own style (Nabeshima-yaki, name taken from their family name) following the techniques of the well-known Arita-yaki.

The records from the Nabeshima family and the existing wares tell us that there existed a specific rule in making a Nabshima-yaki. The works exhibited at the “Nabeshima-yaki and the Design Book” shows the highest quality and technique of the Nabeshima-yaki.
