While unmistakably a tourist trap, the Asukusa district of Tokyo, and Sensoji Temple, its main attraction, is definitely a must-see for any first time visitor to Japan. Knowing there are tourists also means there is a concentration of traditional culture here that is a stark contrast from the rest of ultra modern Tokyo.

Do look for the “Made in Japan” though. There’s little point in buying cheap “Made in China” souvenirs while you’re in Japan!

There is also a new startup providing tea ceremony lessons near the rear of the temple: https://m.facebook.com/Chanoyu320. Do check them out if you’re in Tokyo!!

We recomend starting with Sampler Sets!
